NEET Aspirant's Fake Kidnapping Plot Exposed; Rs 50,000 Gaming Debt Suspected - Video
Overview
A 17-year-old NEET aspirant in Lucknow allegedly staged his own kidnapping and sent a false message claiming his death to obtain money from his family to repay an online gaming debt. According to police, the teenager went missing from the Para area on October 20 and subsequently sent WhatsApp messages to his parents and uncle claiming he had been abducted. He also allegedly disguised his voice in a ransom message demanding Rs 5 lakh, prompting his father to arrange Rs 3 lakh. Police launched an investigation and later traced the teenager, finding him safe with his girlfriend. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jitendra Kumar Srivastava said the teenager had previously lost around Rs 70,000 through online gaming, which his family had repaid. After allegedly accumulating another Rs 50,000 debt, he reportedly fabricated the kidnapping to obtain money. Investigators said the teenager had removed his phone's SIM card and used Wi-Fi to send the messages.
