NEET UG 2026: Supreme Court to Closely Monitor NTA Reforms, Rejects Ad Hoc Measures - Video

The Supreme Court on Friday strongly criticised the Centre over repeated NEET examination irregularities, observing that years of ad hoc measures had failed to prevent paper leaks. Hearing petitions filed by UDF Bharat and the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), a bench of Justices P S Narasimha and Alok Aradhe said it would closely monitor the reforms being undertaken to ensure a transparent and credible examination system. The Court emphasised that competitive exams require a permanent institutional framework instead of temporary solutions.

The bench asked the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to submit a detailed roadmap for NEET reforms, particularly its plan to shift the examination to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) model. It sought details on data security, end-to-end encryption, and safeguards to prevent cyber threats and future paper leaks. Reiterating its earlier directions, the Court stressed the need to build strong institutional memory and institutional plurality within the NTA and asked the Centre to examine adopting the CBT model used for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) while ensuring robust digital security, reports The New Indian Express.
