Study finds prolonged sitting at work linked to higher health risks compared to non-sedentary jobs
Overview
While work is important, some jobs require sitting for long periods, which can be harmful to health. A recent study looked at this issue and found that sitting too much at work can lead to serious health problems. For example, Andrew Allcroft, a 71-year-old accountant, experienced chest pains due to sitting too long at his desk.The study followed many people over 12 years and found that those who sat a lot at work had a higher risk of dying from any cause and a higher risk of heart disease. Doctors say sitting too much can raise blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, and make it harder to control weight
