Total of 118 medical colleges approved by NMC in last 2 years: Health Minister - Video
Overview
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved a total of 118 medical colleges across the country in the last two years, the Union Minister of State for Health, Smt Anupriya Patel, has recently informed the Rajya Sabha.
While 74 new medical colleges were added in 2024, the Commission has approved 44 new medical colleges in 2025.
Among these 118 medical colleges, the maximum number of medical colleges, i.e., 21 medical colleges, have been added in Uttar Pradesh, followed by 17 medical colleges in Maharashtra, 14 medical colleges in Rajasthan, 10 medical colleges in Telangana, 8 medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh, and 6 medical colleges in West Bengal.
