Overview
National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) is a unique institution which fosters and utilizes academic excellence as its resource to meet medical and social goals. It was registered as the 'Indian Academy of Medical Sciences' on 21st April, 1961 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 and this year the National Academy of Medical Sciences proudly observed its 64th Annual Day on 21st April 2024.
On this occasion, the Medical Dialogues team interacted with Dr Shiv Kumar Sarin, an eminent hepatologist, Director, ILBS and President, National Academy of Medical Sciences. Dr Sarin highlighted the various achievements of NAMS in the last 64 years. He shared his views on the journey of NAMS and the contribution of MoHFW and NAMS towards the medical fraternity or India.

Dr. Nandita Mohan is a practicing pediatric dentist with more than 5 years of clinical work experience. Along with this, she is equally interested in keeping herself up to date about the latest developments in the field of medicine and dentistry which is the driving force for her to be in association with Medical Dialogues. She also has her name attached with many publications; both national and international. She has pursued her BDS from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and later went to enter her dream specialty (MDS) in the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry from Pt. Prof. S.K. Sarin, Director of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), has over 30 years of experience as a gastroenterologist and hepatologist. Renowned for his pioneering work in liver disease treatments and research, he has led initiatives at ILBS, the first comprehensive liver setup in Asia. Prof. Sarin's leadership extends to hospitals like Severance Hospital, Yonsei University (Seoul, Korea), and research institutes like Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Research (JNCAR), Bangalore. Recognized with prestigious awards like the Padma Bhushan, he continues to shape liver care and medical education nationally and internationally.
