Antiseptics as alternative treatment for antibiotics in Urinary Tract Infection?

Antibiotics are a serious problem as they become resistant over a time fighting bacterial infections in people and animals whereas Antiseptics, or skin disinfectants, are chemicals for cleaning the skin and wounds. They can kill or prevent the growth of microorganisms. A study conducted in the UK and published in British Medical Journal suggests antiseptic drug methenamine hippurate is as good as antibiotics for the purpose. Adding recurrent urinary tract infection is a common problem and avoidance of antibiotics can help prevent drug resistance.

Previous studies with limited evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) testing cause-and-effect relationships, an RCT published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition demonstrates that adding a 300-calorie serving of French fries to one's typical diet every day for a month does not result in differential weight gain or other biomarker changes associated with impaired blood sugar regulation compared to adding an isocaloric daily serving of almonds, generally considered a healthy snack option.

White potatoes especially French fries are often described in nutrition research literature and dietary guidance statements as having associations with obesogenic diets and as increasing chronic disease risk based on observational research findings.

Excessive wax a risk of ear diseases in children

According to the survey undertaken by a Lucknow-based health-tech start up, 1,000 school- going children in Jhansi, Lakhimpur Kheri and Lucknow were surveyed. Of these, 23.4% children aged between 7 and 14 years were found with an ear disease. Hence, the survey concluded that presence of ear wax can be an indicator of ear disease in children.

Half the women population of India are anemic and Vitamin D deficient

Globally anemic women prevalence has increased with change in lifestyle and habits. A national survey found that anemia affecting over half of the respondents while 72% had Vitamin D deficiency. Abnormal levels of cholesterol and blood sugar were found in almost half of them. Women tend to neglect their health to a greater extent, and this is one of the reasons of higher rates of anemia and vitamin D deficiency.
