Weight fluctuations increase cardiovascular and mortality risk in type 2 diabetes patients
Fat and chronic diseases are interlinked and is a cause of several diseases. In a new study it was found that higher variability of adiposity indices was related to a substantially increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) events and mortality in people with type 2 diabetes in the control group, but not in the intensive lifestyle intervention group. The findings of this study were published in the Journal of American Medical Association.

Statins role in lowering cholesterol, new set of guidelines
Cholesterol is a major trouble, statin drugs lower LDL cholesterol by slowing down the liver's production of cholesterol. They also increase the liver's ability to remove LDL cholesterol that is already in the blood. The AHA/ACC/multisociety guideline emphasizes in changing the perspective of treatment for the patient in a more personalized way, and with the judicious use of a coronary artery calcium score in cases where the risk decision is uncertain.
Particulate matter air pollution affects semen quality and fertility in men of reproductive age
Pollution is also known to cause several disorder, Particulate matter (PM) exposure may impair sperm motility, highlighting the need for reproductive-aged males to be exposed to less ambient particulate air pollution, says an article published in the Journal of American Medical Association.
The effects of particulate matter exposure on male fertility are unknown. Although there has been a relationship between PM exposure and sperm quality, the results have been mixed. In China, researchers wanted to see if different size fractions of PM (2.5 m [PM2.5], 2.5-10 m [PM2.5-10], and 10 m [PM10]) exposure had any effect on sperm quality.

Going gluten-free? Consult your doctor before following
Gluten is lately considered as unhealthy whereas its a protein found in many foods, like wheat, rye and barley. Doctors say people with gluten intolerance can develop symptoms such as bloating and abdominal pain on consuming food that contains the protein. The effect is short-term. However, if a person suffers from celiac disease, consumption of food items that contain gluten leads to an auto-immune response that can do long-term harm. Such Patients often present with recurrent diarrhoea, failure to gain weight, weakness, anaemia, irritability and behavioural issues, among others.
