Sodium-containing acetaminophen associated with CVD in individuals with and without hypertension
Sodium intake is very crucial for normal body functioning. Findings on the effect of intake among individuals without hypertension have been ambiguous and a study in the European Heart Journal reported that Sodium-containing acetaminophen was associated with a statistically significant higher risk of incident cardiovascular disease and all-cause mortality than the non-sodium-containing acetaminophen initiation among individuals with and without hypertension.
European League against Rheumatism recommendations for cardiovascular risk management in rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases
Many Previous studies have found high sodium intake to be associated with increased risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and all-cause mortality among individuals with hypertension.
Pitt study shows exercise can help older adults retain their memories
Exercising is a healthy habit but how much exercise? who benefits the most? And when in our lives? New research led by University of Pittsburgh psychologists pools data from dozens of studies to answer these questions, showing that older adults may be able to prevent declines in a certain kind of memory by sticking to regular exercise.
"Everyone always asks, 'How much should I be exercising? What's the bare minimum to see improvement?' " said lead author Sarah Aghjayan, a Clinical and Biological Health Psychology PhD student in the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. "From our study, it seems like exercising about three times a week for at least four months is how much you need to reap the benefits in episodic memory."

Herbs that protect the heart: Bilobalide reduces cardiac damage in myocardial ischemia
The tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, one of the most important ATP-producing processes in the mitochondria, is a major hub of metabolites and is known for ensuring a fine balance between its cyclic intermediates, referred to as the 'metabolic flux.' There is a general consensus that this metabolic flux is impaired in heart-related disorders. A common example is myocardial ischemia (MI), a condition in which blood flow to the heart is reduced, preventing the heart muscles, or cardiomyocytes, from receiving enough oxygen. While it is well understood that MI is marked by decreased ATP synthesis and increased glucose breakdown, or "glycolysis," manipulating the complex TCA cycle to develop treatment options is extremely difficult.

Omicron variant less likely to cause another subvariant BA 2 infection
Recent variant Omicron has rapidly spread worldwide, carrying numerous mutations in key regions that is said to have increased transmissibility and immune escape. People infected with the highly contagious Omicron variant of Covid are less likely to get BA2 infection. Though Omicron is on the decline, many countries in Europe and Asia have seen an increase in BA2 cases. The reinfection rate appears to be low given the high number of positive SARS-CoV-2 tests during the study period, study also highlights the need for continuous assessment of duration of vaccine-induced and/or natural immunity in its patients.
