Covid- 19 continues to mutate: New variant NeoCoV
Overview
Covid- 19 continues to rise its threat with newer variants, pandemic continues to last as its adverse effects are becoming difficult to manage. The researchers from China have found it only in batsin South Africa but they mention that the neo-cove variant found can spread the fastest and it is said to be very deadly.
According to a recent media report, scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wuhan University have found that the Neo cov variant is not new. The researchers have stated that NeoCoV is a close relative of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) that was first identified in Saudi Arabia in 2012.and should be closely monitored as its mutated form can likely have the potential to infect humans.
This variant is still prevalent in animals. Although this variant is related to the corona virus, research suggests that Neokov is not currently infecting humans. If not, any new changes to the virus could be fatal to humans.
The mortality rate from MersCov is very high. But the World Health Organization (WHO) has not yet released any announcement about this new variant. The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that further studies are required to ascertain NeoCoV's threat to humans.
