Medical Dialogues team interacts with the lead authors of the research, Dr. Raju Vaishya, an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist at Indraprastha Appollo Hospitals, New Delhi, India and Dr Jitendra Mangwani from the School of Healthcare, University Hospitals of Leicester, Leicester, United Kingdom.
The researchers briefly explain what Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD)is on which the review has been written. They further talk about how they see the state of arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine developing in our country.
Dr Jitendra highlights the range of studies that have been included in this review and how significant is to have authors from different countries and institutions coming together on such a topic while Dr Raju talks about how cricket being the mainstream sport in India, while other sports like Hockey, Football, Kabaddi etc. which have their historic origin in our country need much more medical attention and facilities. Lastly, the authors give out their message for the young surgeons who wish to opt for this field and how much awareness about the super specialty you think is still required in our country.

Dr. Raju Vaishya is a renowned Orthopedics and joint replacement surgeon having an experience of more than 35 years. He is currently a Senior Consultant at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. His interest lies in Knee & Hip Surgery (Total Joint Replacement &; Arthroscopic Surgery), Regenerative therapy in orthopedics.
Professor Jitendra Mangwani MBBS (Gold Medal), MS (Orth), FRCS (Tr&Orth) is a highly respected Consultant Trauma and Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Leicester Hospital, Nuffield Health Leicester Hospital, and University Hospitals of Leicester. He specializes in osteoarthritis, sports injuries, deformity correction, tendon disorders, and arthroscopic ankle surgery. A gold medalist from S.N. Medical College, Agra, he completed higher surgical training in London and specialized in foot and ankle surgery with advanced fellowships, including one in Amsterdam. A BOFAS Scientific Committee member, he actively organizes national and international courses.
