65000 ‘ghost patients’ underwent tests at mohalla clinics in Delhi last year, reveals ACB - Video

An initial inquiry by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Delhi government has uncovered that 65,000 fictitious patients underwent pathological tests at Mohalla clinics through private labs from February to December 2023. Two private labs conducted around 2.2 million tests during this period, with 65,000 identified as fraudulent. The government paid ₹4.63 crore to these labs for the tests.
Last month, Delhi Lt Governor V K Saxena recommended a CBI probe into irregularities in lab tests at Mohalla clinics, leading to the Ministry of Home Affairs directing the CBI to investigate. The private labs allegedly conducted tests on non-existent patients who never visited any Mohalla Clinic, according to an ACB official.
