Overview

Highlighting that thousands of illegal pathology laboratories are functioning in the State of Maharashtra, a doctors' body has sought the intervention of the Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) in this regard.

Writing to the President of the State Medical Council, Dr Sanjay Kadam, the Maharashtra Association of Practising Pathologists and Microbiologists has requested the Council to issue advisory in this regard to the administrative officers, including District Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, District Health Officers, and Civil Surgeons. Further, the association has urged MMC to notify a code of conduct for pathologists and treating doctors regarding the practice of pathology.
