MoS Health inaugurates 3-Tesla MRI, CT Scan Complex in JIPMER
Puducherry: Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey inaugurated a 3-Tesla MRI and 128-slice CT Scan complex in the JIPMER Super Specialty Block Annex.
According to a Jipmer release, Mr. N. Gokulakrishnan, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Mr V Vaithilingam, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and all the Head of the department, doctors and employees of the Institute attended the function.
The 3-Tesla MRI is a state-of-the-art scanning equipment that uses very strong magnetic field. This installation is the first of its kind in the Union Territory of Puducherry, and has been acquired at a cost of Rs 22 crore. It can perform advanced imaging of brain, heart, liver, joints and muscles.
Unlike standard MRI machines, the scanning on this advanced machine takes less time, has higher resolution and can give additional information regarding the function and composition of several organs and tissues.
