Mumbai: Renowned Gynaecologist collapses while preparing for marathon
Mumbai: In an unfortunate incident, well known gynaecologist, Dr Rakesh Sinha, collapsed and passed away while preparing for the Mumbai Marathon.
Dr Sinha collapsed suddenly during his morning run and was rushed to the nearby Holy Family Hospital. He was unfortunately declared dead on arrival. The doctor was brought in by unknown persons, the hospital authorities said. “His family told us he had no medical history of heart ailments. It is shocking and unfortunate how we lost such a brilliant doctor. He was brought dead to the hospital,” Dr Beena, assistant executive director at Holy Family hospital, told Indian Express, adding attempts to resuscitate him failed.
Dr Sinha was one of the most renowned gynaecologist, credited with being one of the first to bring the minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques to India. He was Guinness World Record Holder for 2 records - one, for having removed the largest fibroid weighing 3.4 kgs. laparoscopically and second for having taken out the heaviest uterus weighing 4.1 kgs. laparoscopically.
He was also an 4 times International Marathon runner having completed 42.195 kms. each time.
