3,224 MD Radiodiagnosis, Radiology seats as per NMC seat matrix 2026-27, 471 in Karnataka, 400 Maharashtra

New Delhi: MD Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology has 3,224 seats across medical colleges in India for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest postgraduate medical seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
As per the list, the highest number of MD Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology seats is 471 in Karnataka among all states and Union Territories, followed by Maharashtra with 400 seats, Uttar Pradesh with 296 seats and Tamil Nadu with 285 seats.
On the other end, the lowest number of MD Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology seats is in Meghalaya with 2 seats. Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have 3 seats each, while Dadra and Nagar Haveli have 4 seats.
Medical Dialogues earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix on September 29 showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the NMC clarified that the latest seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
State-wise distribution
After Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh has 237 seats and Telangana has 234 seats in M.D. Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology. Gujarat has 186 seats, Rajasthan has 181 seats, Madhya Pradesh has 151 seats, Kerala has 98 seats, Delhi has 89 seats, West Bengal has 79 seats, Bihar has 65 seats and Haryana has 59 seats.
Meanwhile, Odisha has 56 seats, while Punjab has 57 seats, Puducherry has 52 seats, Jammu & Kashmir has 45 seats, Assam has 41 seats, Chhattisgarh has 30 seats, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have 29 seats each.
As per the list, Chandigarh has 10 seats, Manipur has 11 seats, Goa, Jharkhand and Tripura have 7 seats each and Dadra and Nagar Haveli has 4 seats, while Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim have 3 seats each. Meghalaya has 2 seats.
Further, the seat matrix showed that Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Mizoram have no MD Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology seats added this year.
