37 MBBS Students from KGMU Fail Supplementary Exams, become Ineligible for NEET PG Counselling
Lucknow:Altogether 37 out of 41 MBBS final-year students belonging to four medical institutes affiliated with King George's Medical University (KGMU) have become ineligible to participate in the counselling process for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) examination as they have failed again in the supplementary examination.
Among these 37 MBBS students, 20 students belong to Lohia, Jalaun, Banda and Kannauj Medical Colleges. All of them appeared in the supplementary examination of surgery and failed.
These students had to appear in the supplementary examination after they failed in the main examination of the Surgery Department. After failing the supplementary examination, these students have demanded a revaluation.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for KGMU Dr. Santosh Kumar has clarified that there is no system for the revaluation of the answer sheet and the students can apply for scrutiny.
Previously, before getting affiliation from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, many medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh were associated with KGMU, which used to issue examination results of these colleges.
For the MBBS students who got admitted in 2017 or earlier, KGMU conducts the examination for them. Accordingly, KGMU administration released the result of MBBS final year supplementary examination also.
As per the latest media report by Live Hindustan, KGMU released the result of final year supplementary exam in the first week of June. Altogether 41 students appeared in the examination for the Surgery Department. Students belonging to Lohia Institute, Jalaun, Banda, Kannauj Government Medical College and Prayagraj MLNMC Medical College participated in it. However, 37 out of 41 MBBS students failed in the examination.
Disappointed with the results, the students have requested the authorities to pass them in the examination. They have also demanded for a revaluation. However, the administration of the University has clarified that there is no system for any kind of revaluation. However, the students are allowed to apply for a scrutiny.
Last year Medical Dialogues reported that KGMU had given an ultimatum to 37 MBBS students, who could not clear their MBBS degree examination for the last twenty years. KGMU authorities had decided to expel those students in case they failed in the exam after one last chance.
Although the University had been providing these students with several opportunities and concessions, they failed to complete their studies despite being admitted to the course around two decades ago.
