3,998 PG, SS seats in Telangana, 379 in MD Medicine, 359 MD Anaesthesiology, 330 in MS ObGyn, Check details

Hyderabad: Telangana has 3,998 postgraduate and super-speciality medical seats for the academic year 2026-27, according to the latest seat matrix released by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
The seat matrix include postgraduate MD and MS courses, along with Doctorate of Medicine (DM), Master of Chirurgiae (MCh), and diploma courses across government and private medical colleges and deemed universities in the state.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the NMC released a seat matrix showing a total of 63,177 MD, MS, Diploma, DM and MCh medical seats for the academic year 2026-27. However, the Apex Medical Commission has clarified that the seat matrix does not include seats related to applications received for an increase in the intake of existing PG courses or for the commencement of new PG courses for the academic year 2026-27.
As per the list, M.D. General Medicine has the highest number of seats at 379 in Telangana, followed by M.D. Anaesthesiology with 359 seats and M.S. Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 330 seats. M.S. General Surgery has 328 seats, while M.D. Paediatrics has 290 seats. M.D. Radio-Diagnosis/Radiology has 234 seats and M.S. Orthopaedics has 230 seats.
M.D. Pathology with 178 seats, M.S. Ophthalmology with 159 seats, M.D. Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy/Dermatology with 153 seats, and M.S. Otorhinolaryngology/ENT with 146 seats.
The state also has 112 seats in M.D. Respiratory Medicine/Tuberculosis & Respiratory Diseases, 116 in M.D. BioChemistry, 105 in M.D. Microbiology, 106 in M.D. Pharmacology and 89 each in M.D. Anatomy and M.D. Psychiatry.
Among DM courses, Cardiology has 32 seats, Nephrology has 25, Neurology has 22, Medical Gastroenterology has 14 and Medical Oncology has 13 seats, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology with four seats, Clinical Pharmacology with four, Critical Care Medicine with seven, Endocrinology with six, Neonatology with seven, Neuro-Anaesthesia with four and Onco-Pathology with four seats.
For MCh courses, Neurosurgery has 25 seats, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has 24, Urology has 24 and Cardio Vascular and Thoracic Surgery has 19 seats. MCh Paediatric Surgery and MCh Surgical Oncology have 14 seats each, while Surgical Gastroenterology has 11 seats and Vascular Surgery has four seats.
Meanwhile, Diploma in Ophthalmology (D.O.) has seven seats, while Diploma in Public Health (D.P.H.) has three seats. Diploma in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (D.T.C.D.) has two seats, while Diploma in Psychiatry (D.P.M.) and Diploma in Radiodiagnosis (D.M.R.D.) have one seat each.
