Alleged score discrepancies in NEET PG 2026 results: Medicos write to Health Minister seeking release of question paper, individual response sheets

New Delhi: The recently declared NEET PG 2026 result sparked concerns among candidates on social media over alleged discrepancies between their expected and actual scores.

Seeking greater transparency in the evaluation process, medical students' associations have demanded the release of the official question paper, answer key and individual response sheets, saying these would allow them to independently verify their responses and marks.

The demand comes amid reactions from NEET PG 2026 candidates on social media following the declaration of the result on September 24. Several candidates on X have claimed that their actual scores do not match the number of correct answers they calculated based on question recall. This also includes claims of discrepancies of nearly 100 marks between their expected and actual scores.

NBEMS declared the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24, 2026. The result indicates the raw scores obtained by candidates along with their NEET PG 2026 ranks on the official NBEMS website. As per NBEMS, the answer key for NEET PG 2026 shall be published on its website on or after October 1, 2026. Each candidate who appeared for the examination will be able to access the Question ID numbers, correct answer key IDs, response IDs marked and the score awarded for each question, as per the scheme of evaluation, through their individual applicant login on the NEET PG 2026 index page of the NBEMS website.

The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted on August 30, 2026, across the country for admission to MD, MS, DNB, DrNB (Direct 6 Years Courses) and PG Medical Diploma courses for the 2026-27 admission session.

Medical Students' body writes to Union Govt

Indian Medical Association Medical Students Network, Madhya Pradesh has urged Union Health Minister J P Nadda to direct the concerned authorities to release the NEET PG 2026 question paper, official answer key and recorded responses of individual candidates.

In a letter dated September 25, 2026, the association said that NEET PG is a crucial examination that determines the postgraduate careers of thousands of doctors and that transparency in the examination and evaluation process is important to maintain candidates' confidence.

The students' body has specifically requested the release of the official NEET PG 2026 question paper, the official answer key for all questions and the individual response sheet or recorded responses of every candidate who appeared for the examination

According to the letter, making these documents available would allow candidates to independently verify their responses, calculate their expected scores and identify any genuine discrepancies in the evaluation process.

The All India Medical Students' Association (AIMSA) has also raised similar concerns with Union Health Minister J P Nadda. In a letter dated September 26, 2026, AIMSA said it had received representations from NEET PG 2026 candidates who raised concerns about their marks and sought greater clarity regarding the evaluation process. The association has requested the concerned authorities to make examination-related documents available so that candidates can independently verify their responses and understand how their scores were calculated.

Commenting on this, Dr Aaryan Dhivare, State General Secretary, IMA MSN MP, told Medical Dialogues, "In our view, whenever a student raises a genuine concern regarding marks, evaluation, or any other process related to the NEET-PG examination, it is the moral and institutional responsibility of the concerned authority to provide a clear, transparent, and valid explanation—irrespective of whether the student’s apprehension is ultimately found to be correct or incorrect. As representatives of medical students and doctors, we therefore respectfully request the concerned authorities to ensure complete transparency in the examination process and facilitate disclosure of the individual answer sheets/response records and the official answer key for every candidate who appeared in NEET-PG."
