Altogether 1,29,026 MBBS seats available for 2025-26: NMC releases final seat matrix, details

New Delhi: A total of 1,29,026 MBBS seats are available in India for the academic year 2025-2026, the final seat matrix issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) revealed.
According to the data provided by the Commission, during the academic year 2024-2025, 117,750 MBBS seats were available, with 11,732 seats increased and 456 seats decreased this year. NMC data revealed that 11501 new seats have been granted in 2025-2026, when 231 seats of AIIMS and JIPMER are excluded.
Releasing the final seat matrix, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC mentioned in the notice dated 11.12.2025, "In continuation seat matrix circulated vide Public Notice ated 29.10.2025, kindly find attached herewith final seat matrix (MBBS) updated on 03/12/2025 for the Academic Year 2025-26...The instant Seat Matrix is to be uploaded on the official website of the National Medical Commission for the information of all stakeholders."
Following this, the NMC Secretary wrote to the Principals/Deans of all medical colleges and mentioned, "Please find enclosed herewith Public Notice no. No. N-15029/09/2025- UGMEB (e file no.8348349) dated 11-12-2025 issued by the Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) on the above-mentioned subject which is to be uploaded on the official website of the National Medical Commission for the information of all stakeholders...All concerned Medical Institutions, Parents, Student and other stakeholders are requested to kindly take note of the same/ comply with the said directions."

According to the seat-matrix details shared by the Apex Medical Commission, for the academic year 2025-2026, the maximum number of MBBS seats are available in Karnataka (13944), followed by Uttar Pradesh (13425), Tamil Nadu (13050), Maharashtra (12824), and Telangana (9540).
Apart from these States, 114 MBBS seats are available in Andaman & Nicobar, 7215 seats are available in Andhra Pradesh, 100 seats are available in Arunachal Pradesh, 1975 seats are available in Assam, 3545 seats are available in Bihar, 150 seats are available in Chandigarh, 2455 seats are avaulable in Chhattisgarh, 177 seats are available in Dadra & Nagar Haveli, 1396 seats are available in Delhi, 200 seats are available in Goa, 7525 seats are available in Gujarat, 2710 seats are available in Haryana, 970 seats are available in Himachal Pradesh, 1726 seats are available in Jammu and Kashmir, and 1255 seats are available in Jharkhand.
Further, 5404 seats are in Kerala, 5725 seats are in Madhya Pradesh, 525 seats are in Manipur, 200 seats are in Meghalaya, 100 seats are available each in Mizoram and Nagaland, 3025 seats are available in Odisha, 1873 seats are available in Pondicherry, 1899 seats are available in Punjab, 7330 seats are available in Rajasthan, 150 seats are in Sikkim, 450 seats are in Tripura, 1450 seats are in Uttarakhand, and 6499 seats are available in West Bengal.
