Appearing for FMGE December 2024: Know the Exam Scheme
New Delhi- The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) invited applications for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination- FMGE December 2024. For candidates appearing for FMGE, NBE has also released an information bulletin detailing the scheme for the FMGE December 2024 exam.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) shall conduct the FMGE December 2024 on 12th January 2025 on a Computer Based Platform at various test centres across the country.
SCHEME OF FMGE EXAMINATION
The examination consists of one paper, comprising of 300 multiple choice questions and administered using computer network as per prescribed scheme. Each question shall have 4 response options/distractors in English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/best/ most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question.
The paper shall be delivered in two parts to be taken in a single day with each part comprising of 150 questions to be attempted in 150 minutes. There is a scheduled break between the two parts. Allocation of time for the FMGE shall be as follows:

The question paper for each part of FMGE will be divided into multiple time bound sections. For example, if there are 3-time bound sections* (Section A, B & C) in each part of the question paper, each such section will have 50 questions and 50 minutes of time allotted for the section. Candidates would be restricted to proceed to the next section till completion of the allotted time of the previous section and candidates would not be allowed to review the questions/ modify the responses of a section after the completion of the allotted time of that section. Questions of the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time of the previous section.
The actual number of such time-restricted sections may vary based on the total number of questions in the question paper and operational feasibility in making such sections.
Candidates are given an option to mark any question, whether attempted or not, for review which means that candidate has been given an option to go through these questions in a section again before the allotted time to a section ends. Candidates may note that such questions which are marked for review shall be evaluated as per the marking scheme mentioned above.
Negative Marking: There shall be no negative marking.
A candidate shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed on NBEMS website. There is no provision for re-totaling/re-evaluation/ award of grace marks in FMGE.
There are no restrictions on number of attempts that can be availed by a candidate. However, FMGE being a qualifying examination, once a candidate qualifies the FMGE, he or she shall not be eligible to take the FMGE again. Any examination taken by a candidate in violation of this clause shall be treated as void and as cancelled.

The exact venue will be informed to the candidates through admit cards. The Candidates shall make their own arrangement for travel/boarding etc.
At the time of online submission of application form, the candidate will be required to indicate his/her choices of four different test cities amongst the test cities offered where he/she would like to appear in FMGE. The candidate shall be allocated the test centre for FMGE in any one of these four test cities chosen by him/her using random allocation process. No preference shall be asked to be indicated amongst these four choices. Allocation of the test centre in one of these test cities shall be decided by NBEMS on the basis of administrative, logistic and security parameters. Indicating a test city choice does not guarantee allocation of a test centre in one of these test cities. In an event of unavailability of a testing seat in any of the four choices of the candidate, NBEMS may allocate a test centre anywhere in the country.
Candidates will be informed regarding the allotted test city through an email at their registered email ID, 2 weeks before the conduct of FMGE. The complete address of the test centre allotted in the test city shall be indicated in the admit card which shall be issued on 8th January 2025.
The list of test cities is purely tentative. In an extraordinary situation where a test city mentioned in the information bulletin could not be considered for conduct of examination due to security audit issues at test centre(s) in that city or other logistic issues/unforeseen reasons, candidates who would have indicated choices for such test cities shall be accommodated in other test city choices indicated by them in their application forms or in some other nearby cities. The test city allocated shall be intimated through email in advance to concerned candidates. NBEMS may add a new test city which is not indicated in the bulletin if so required to accommodate the candidates. NBEMS reserves its right to allocate test centre anywhere in the country irrespective of the test city chosen by the candidate to maintain the sanctity of examination.
Requests for change of testing centre / city shall not be entertained under any circumstances. Candidates are advised not to canvass for the same.
Result
candidate shall be declared as having passed in FMGE only if he/ she obtains a minimum of 150 marks out of 300 in the examination. Result is declared as Pass/Fail.
Before declaration of the result, any question asked in the FMGE Examination can be challenged for technical errors, if any, with supportive medical literature, in not more than 2 calendar days after conduct of examination i.e. till 14th January 2025. No claims made beyond 2 days of conduct of examination (i.e. after 14th January 2025) shall be entertained under any circumstances. No claims pertaining to the difficulty level of a question shall be entertained. Such challenge can only be raised by bonafide candidates who had appeared in the examination through their registered email ID at Communication Web Portal of NBEMS.
There is no provision for re-evaluation or rechecking or re-totaling or award of grace marks in FMGE. Such requests for re-evaluation/re-totaling/ award of grace marks shall not be entertained.
The results for FMGE December 2024 session are likely to be declared by 12th February 2025. Results can be seen on NBE website.
The score card shall be available for download to the candidates through applicant login using User ID and Password, likely within a week of declaration of result
Qualified candidates shall be issued Pass Certificates after in-person document and identity verification tentatively within four weeks of declaration of results, however, due to unforeseen circumstances, this period may vary.
Qualified candidates are required to attend “in-person” verification of credentials including finger biometric and Face ID. Schedule for distribution of FMGE PASS certificates shall be published on NBEMS website after declaration of result. Details of documents to be brought for “in-person” verification shall be provided in the entry slip for PASS certificate collection. Qualifying FMGE does not give create any right in favour of the candidate for issuance of FMGE Pass Certificate by NBEMS as issuance of FMGE Pass Certificate to qualified candidates is subject to in-person verification of identity and credential. NBEMS reserves its right to withhold the FMGE Pass Certificate of any FMGE qualified candidate for further verification as may deem appropriate to it.
All such candidates who would be declared qualified in FMGE December 2024 and fail to collect their FMGE Pass Certificates as per assigned schedule of distribution of Pass Certificates shall be able to collect the same within 6 months of declaration of result, failing which their candidature & result for FMGE December 2024 would be deemed as cancelled and no further opportunity to collect the Pass Certificate shall be given.
A digitally signed office copy of FMGE result is also sent to the National Medical Commission and all State Medical Councils for the purpose of verification of FMGE Pass Certificates issued to qualified candidates by NBEMS. The score card of FMGE cannot be produced in lieu of FMGE Pass Certificate for seeking registration with a State Medical Council. Seeking registration or an attempt to seek registration with any medical council on/after the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 came in force without qualifying the FMGE shall be treated as an Unfair Means and dealt with accordingly.
Issuance of FMGE Pass Certificate by NBEMS alone does not confer any right in favour of the candidate to seek registration with a medical council in India. The eligibility for seeking provisional/ permanent registration with a medical council as a medical practitioner in India shall be determined by the medical council concerned after due verifications of the indicative documents mentioned herein below, but not limited to, the following:
Credentials supporting eligibility of the candidate for pursuing Primary Medical Qualification as per provisions of the GMER (i.e. 10+2 marksheet, Caste certificate, Eligibility Certificate/NEET-UG result etc); / Credentials supporting completion of Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ) which is confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned, to be a recognized qualification for enrolment as medical practitioner in the country in which the institution awarding the said qualification is situated (i.e. PMQ certificate duly attested by Indian Embassy concerned/ Apostilled);Credentials confirming qualifying the FMG Examination (i. e. FMGE Pass Certificate issued by NBEMS)
Indulgence by the candidate in any unfair means as per NBEMS unfair means guidelines, in order to qualify FMGE and/or seeking registration with a medical council, detected at any stage will lead to cancellation of this FMGE Pass Certificate and the candidate shall be liable of an academic and a criminal punishment as may be applicable.
If a State Medical Council requires NBEMS to verify the result of a FMGE candidate who has qualified in any session December 2019 session onwards, a fee of Rs. 2000/- and GST@18% i.e. a total of Rs. 2360/- shall be required to be paid for each such verification online through NBEMS website
For duplicate pass certificate, please submit a request letter stating reasons to issue a duplicate certificate, copy of FIR/Police Complaint/ NCR lodged with police authorities for loss of original certificate, affidavit in support of application (attested by public notary/oath commissioner/judicial magistrate), fee of Rs. 1000/- + GST @18% for document up to preceding 3 years and Rs. 2000/- + GST @18% for documents more than three years old. The fee can only be paid online through NBEMS website.
Candidates are advised not to canvass with NBEMS for handing over the passing certificate. Certificate shall be distributed to eligible qualified candidates as per prescribed schedule only.
