Aspirants upset over halt in NEET PG Counselling, FAIMA meets DGHS raising concern
New Delhi: Slamming the Medical Counselling Committee's (MCC) decision of withdrawing the Provisional Result for Round-1 of PG Counselling, the aspirants of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate Examination (NEET-PG) have now started to heavily criticize MCC and the Union Health department authorities.
Upset with the MCC's decision the candidates have chosen Twitter to express their frustration over the issue and they blamed MCC for playing with the future of the PG medical aspirants.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) recently met the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) with their grievances regarding the halt in the NEET-PG Counselling. However, the FAIMA representatives have been assured by DGHS that this sudden decision of MCC will not affect the counselling schedule, informed Dr. Rohan Krishnan, the President of FAIMA.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that MCC through a recent notice informed the Postgraduate medical aspirants about halting NEET PG Counselling since the Provisional Result for Round-1 of PG Counselling had to be withdrawn because of some technical issues. Issuing a notice in this regard on September 28, MCC had stated, "All candidates participating in NEET PG Counselling 2022 are hereby informed that the Provisional Result for Round-1 of PG Counselling which was uploaded yesterday i.e 27.09.2022 is being withdrawn since some PG DNB institutes did not complete their address profile on portal due to which their seats were not visible when 'State Filter' was applied by the candidates during Choice filling, even though their seats were included in the seat matrix of Round-1 and were available for Choice Filling."
Stating that a fresh result shall be issued, MCC notice further added, "Keeping in view the larger public interest, the competent authority has decided to open the Choice Filling again and issue a fresh result for Round-1as per following schedule. Kindly note that the candidates who are satisfied with their choices exercised earlier need not make any changes and the software will pick earlier locked choices of candidate for seat processing. However, those who want to make changes in their choices can unfreeze their choices after giving 'Consent' on MCC portal."
"The candidates are advised to keep in touch with the MCC website for latest updates and make travel arrangements only after declaration of 'Final Result'," added the notice. Earlier today, the DGHS also informed on Twitter about halting the counselling due to software/web portal upgradation.
Due to software/web portal upgradation, some seats were not visible to few candidates during choice filling. On request of these candidates, counselling has been halted briefly for a day, in the interest of Students only; however it is not going to affect the counseling schedule

Some of the aspirants even compared the MCC decision with a movie script. "The whole NEET PG exam- counselling saga is a readymade script; the only thing missing is a film director to convert it into a movie thriller. May be he too will step in soon," wrote a doctor. They also blamed the authorities for playing with the future of the students.

Earlier, slamming the authorities, the president of FAIMA, Dr Rohan Krishnan had described it as a "highly shameful" incident and requested the Union Health Minister to look into the lapses in the conduct of counselling.
Upset with the halt in the FAIMA representatives recently met the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and they are also planning to meet the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in this regard. Earlier, the association had extended its support to the NEET PG aspirants when MCC had decided to reschedule the NEET PG Counselling. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that writing to the Health Ministry officials FAIMA has back then urged the authorities for expediting the process of counselling.
Finally, even though the counselling for PG medical admission commenced, now the MCC has informed about its decision of withdrawing the provisional result for Round-1 of PG counselling.
While commenting on his recent meeting with DGHS, Dr. Rohan told Medical Dialogues, "We had a cordial & satisfactory meeting with DGHS and we explained to him that such lapses in counselling affects a mass of students & they should be vigilant about it. He said that it was due to some software errors and it will not affect the counselling schedule. He also claimed that this measure will bring in more seats in the counselling process."
This is highly shameful that such lapses are there at highest level so regularly. I request @mansukhmandviya sir to look into the lapses in conduct of counselling & do the needful immediately I feel that there is no coordination between MCC & @NMC_IND NMC IS WORST THAN MCI pic.twitter.com/tvaamTOsPS

"I have also requested them to pro actively plan and decide further roadmaps of second and mop up round of counselling because any delay any glitch affects a large number of doctors. We are dedicated toward better way of NEET PG COUNSELLING and exams and shall be meeting Mansukh Mandivya Sir also," he added.
