Tripura to establish homeopathic medical college

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has recently announced that the Ministry of Ayush has approved Rs 75 crore for establishing a Homoeopathic Medical College and an integrated AYUSH hospital in Gomati district, aimed at strengthening healthcare and medical education in the state.
He also said the state government is considering setting up a dedicated Health University, with the proposal currently under discussion in the Council of Ministers.
According to a recent report by Tripura info, the state Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday said the Ministry of Ayush has sanctioned Rs 75 crore for setting up a Homeopathic Medical College along with an integrated AYUSH hospital in the state.
Addressing the central function of Tripura’s 54th Statehood Day celebrations , Saha said the proposed institutions would be established in Gomati district with the objective of strengthening healthcare delivery and expanding medical education infrastructure within the state.

He said the state government is also considering the establishment of a dedicated Health University in Tripura and the proposal is presently under discussion in the Council of Ministers. The initiative, he added, is aimed at enabling students to pursue medical and allied health education within the state.
Referring to existing health schemes, the chief minister said claims amounting to Rs 298 crore have been settled so far under the CM JAY and PM JAY universal health coverage programmes, providing beneficiaries with cashless treatment. He also announced plans to set up a 100-bedded tertiary care eye hospital to strengthen specialised ophthalmic services.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha had earlier said that the number of patients going outside the state for treatment has reduced significantly, and to increase patient convenience, the government has launched the Inter-Departmental Referral System (IDRS).
