Bhopal: For MBBS and BDS students in Madhya Pradesh who opt to pursue their undergraduate medical MBBS and dental courses in Hindi medium, the Madhya Pradesh Government on Friday announced various incentives for them.

Such students will get a 50% discount on their examination fees, and they will also receive financial rewards if they secure ranks in the University Examination.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the MBBS in Hindi medium was first introduced in Madhya Pradesh around three years ago. The initiative was launched on October 16, 2022, in Bhopal by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

However, back then, while introducing the MBBS programme in the Hindi language, the State had faced several difficulties, such as writing difficult medical terminologies in Hindi, bringing bilingual textbooks so that the students can understand the subject well, etc.

The State of Madhya Pradesh translated the anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology textbooks for the first-year medical students into Hindi in October 2022. At the same time, the Ministry also introduced the Anuwadani App to translate technical books into regional languages, including Hindi.

Since the MBBS in Hindi was introduced in Madhya Pradesh in 2022, around 30 MBBS students opted for the Hindi medium course. Now, the State has announced its decision to incentivize such students who opt to study MBBS in their mother tongue, Hindi.

As per the latest media report by Deccan Chronicle, Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, to which all the government medical and dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh are affiliated, has declared that the students pursuing MBBS courses and dental science will be provided with various incentives.

These incentives include a reduction of the exam fees by 50 percent. Apart from this, the State will also offer cash rewards for meritorious MBBS and BDS students. The student who tops the university examination in the Hindi medium medical courses will get a cash reward of Rs two lakh and the student who secures the second rank in the university in the Hindi medium course will get Rs 1.50 lakh. The third and fourth rank holders will receive Rs 1 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.

Commenting on this, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla said on Friday that giving incentives would encourage students to pursue professional courses such as MBBS and dental science in the medium of their mother tongue.

The Deputy Chief Minister further mentioned that the entire syllabus for MBBS courses from the first to last semester has already been translated into Hindi and all the government medical colleges have been provided with these books.

He also added that special training to the faculties of medical colleges will be provided to make sure that they teach the MBBS and dental science courses to the students in the Hindi medium, comfortably.

Extra facilities such as additional classes will also be arranged for the students to ensure that there is no problem in their studies, News 18 has reported. Minister Shukla clarified that they did not want language to become an obstacle in the path of talent.

He said that studying in the Hindi medium will give opportunities to rural and Hindi-speaking students. This scheme is a recognition of their respect and self-respect for those students who are proficient in the Hindi medium. He also added that there will be a provision of training for teachers and solution classes for students, so that there is no problem in studies.

Further, Minister Shukla has also instructed Madhya Pradesh Medical University to provide every possible facility to these students appearing in the examination in Hindi medium. The medical and dental colleges affiliated to MP Medical Science University will send the list of such students to the University who voluntarily want to sit in the examination in Hindi. Further, Hindi examiners will also be recommended with suitable arrangements in classes and practical sessions.
