Chintpurni Medical College Reduces Mess, hostel charges for MBBS students
Pathankot: Bringing good news to students pursuing MBBS at Chintpurni Medical College, Pathankot, the management has decided to reduce the hostel mess charges, electricity and other college charges.
Parents had earlier alleged that the college charged an excess fee for months. So a joint meeting was conducted between parents and the management recently. After the discussion in the meeting, the decision of reduction was taken,
The college chairman said they want to run the college and keep the students' interests in mind. They agreed to the demands despite huge financial implications.
The media report from Tribune suggests that the management has decided to reduce the mess, electricity and other college charges to Rs 20000 monthly, effective June 2023. Also, the tuition fee will be charged as per Government norms. The mess committee will compromise 2 students from each batch.
Rs 3.78 lakh every year was being charged as a hostel fee. As per reports, this fee was 3 times more than the fee fixed by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS). BFUHS has found several deficiencies in the college infrastructure. An inspection was made after the parents were concerned about the excess fee charged. A copy of the deficiency report has been sent to the Punjab government.
MBBS admissions in this college are based on NEET UG, which is conducted on an India basis once a year. BFUHS is the counselling authority for MBBS admission in the college.
Chintpurni Medical College and Hospital Pathankot were established in 2011 and are private medical colleges in Punjab. It has an attached hospital with 320 beds, and daily, 500 outpatients come for treatment. The college is affiliated with Baba Farid, the University of Health Science, approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
