Nagpur's dental college student bags AIR 1 in NEET MDS 2026

Nagpir: In a proud moment, a dental student from Bhandara has secured All India Rank 1 in the NEET MDS 2026 examination, the country's competitive entrance test for postgraduate dental courses.
Dr Namira Mohammad Ghalib Siddiqui, a student of Swargiya Dadasaheb Kalmegh Smruti Dental College and Hospital in Wanadongri, achieved the top rank through disciplined preparation, regular practice and long study hours.
Coming from a middle-class family, she said her ambition is to become a successful dental surgeon. She said that she mostly preferred studying at night because it helped her concentrate better.

Speaking to TOI, she said, "My main focus was studying at night. I found it easier to concentrate in silence rather than during the daytime distractions," Siddiqui said. "During the preparation phase, I compromised heavily on sleep. Out of 24 hours, I slept only five hours."
She said her preparation strategy went beyond textbook learning and focused extensively on solving previous years' question papers within strict time limits. "The practice of solving previous years' papers proved extremely beneficial during the actual examination," she said.
Siddiqui, who dreams of becoming a successful dental surgeon, credited consistency and exam-oriented preparation for her success. Her father is a businessman, while her mother is a homemaker. Her younger brother is also preparing for the NEET examination.
The achievement has received praise across Nagpur and the Vidarbha region.
Chairman of Kalmegh Dental College, Hemant Kalmegh, said, "Siddiqui's achievement reflects the increasing competitiveness of students from smaller cities in national entrance examinations, particularly in specialised medical and dental streams."
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the results of the National Eligibility and Entrance Test Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS) examination for the academic year 2026 on June 2. Candidates who appeared for the entrance examination, conducted on May 2, 2026, can now check their scores and All India ranks on the official NBEMS website. Along with the results, NBEMS has also announced the category-wise qualifying cut-off scores required for admission to MDS courses for the 2026-27 academic session.
