TN Health releases tentative schedule for BDS special stray vacancy round 2 counselling 2025, details

Tamil Nadu: The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME) Tamil Nadu, has released the tentative counselling schedule for Special Stray Vacancy Round II for admission to the BDS Degree Course for the 2025-2026 academic session.

The counselling will be conducted for Government and Management Quota seats in Self-Financing Dental Colleges across the state.

According to the schedule, the online registration, choice filling, and locking process for Special Stray Round II will be open from 10:00 AM on January 2, 2026, to 12:00 Noon on January 5, 2026. Below is the detailed schedule.

ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

The Candidates who are not holding any MBBS/BDS seats in All India Quota and State Quota are only eligible to participate in this online counselling.

NOT ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES

1 The candidates who have already joined any MBBS & BDS seats in All India Quota and State Quota (Either Govt. Quota/Management Quota/NRI Quota) are not eligible to participate in this round of counselling.

2 The candidates who did not join their seats allotted through Tamil Nadu State Counselling Round-3 / Stray round /Additional Stray/ Special Stray round are “Not Eligible” to participate in this counselling.

CHOICE FILLING

1 Candidates should be careful while choice filling.

2 Candidates will have the option of choice filling for the categories for which they have applied. For example, if a candidate has applied for both the Government and management quota, he will have choices for both the Government as well as Management quota. The candidates are encouraged to analyse the choices available and fill in their choices in order of their preference.

3 Candidates can edit their choices any number of times before locking, but once locked, they will not be allowed to edit.

4 If the candidate does not lock his/her choices till the last date (05 January 2026, 12.00 NOON), their choices will be automatically locked.

REPORTING TO THE ALLOTTED COLLEGE

1 The Certificate Verification will be done in the selected colleges itself.

2 The candidates should produce their original certificates in person at the time of joining their selected Colleges along with a scanned copy of their original certificates for verification.

3 If you do not report to the Head of the Institution to which you are allotted on or before the time and date specified, your selection and/or admission will be cancelled without any further notice.

4 The Candidate selected for admission should give a self-declaration form at the time of reporting to the concerned College that he/she is liable for forfeiture of selection/admission if suppression of facts, misinterpretation is found at any time during or after the admission to the course.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALLOTTED CANDIDATES

1 If a candidate is allotted in Special Stray Vacancy Round II, he/she will have to join the allotted college.

2 Considering the absence of Re-allotment and time-constraints in Stray Round, downloading of allotment order by the candidate itself is considered as joining and the candidate has to report to the institution within the reporting time.

3 Failure to report will be considered as discontinuation and the candidate should pay the Discontinuation fee. If he/she fails to report before the stipulated time.

4 The Selected candidate (BDS seats in Self Financing Dental Colleges) has to pay the Tuition Fee at the time of admission to the colleges directly.

5 The selected candidates belonging to SC/SCA/ST/ SCC who have been allotted a seat in the Govt. Quota and Management Quota in self-financing Dental colleges are exempted from paying tuition fee if the annual income of the parents/ Guardian is less than 2.5 Lakhs.

6 All candidates should make sure that sufficient fund is available in their bank account with expanded credit/Transaction limit while remitting their Tuition Fee.

7 The allotted candidates should download their provisional allotment order and join the course in the concerned Dental College/Institution on or before the stipulated date and time as mentioned in the Provisional Allotment Order.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1 The candidates should pay an Additional Security Deposit amount of Rs 2 Lakhs for the BDS Course for participating in this Special Stray Round II via online Bank payment portal, which is not refundable, in case the candidate, after allotment, does not join the course.

2 Candidates who have not previously registered and participating the online choice filling (But their name should be present in the state Merit list already published) for the BDS Degree Course will have to remit a nonrefundable Registration Fee of Rs 500/- for Government Quota and Rs 1000/- for Management Quota.

3 The candidates who have participated and paid their Registration Fee & Additional Security Deposit, but not allotted any MBBS/BDS seats in previous rounds, need not pay again.

4 Allotted candidates during Special Stray vacancy Round II, if they fail to join or discontinue the course, they will have to forfeit the Security Deposit and Tuition Fee in addition to the payment of Discontinuation Fee. They also will not be able to participate in TN UG Medical Counselling for the subsequent one academic year.

Along with this, Tamil Nadu (TN Health) has released the tentative vacancy position for the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Degree Course for the 2025 academic session in Self-Financing Dental Colleges across the state. As per the vacancy list, a total of four BDS seats are available under the Management Quota in select private dental institutions.

The vacancies will be considered during the Special Stray Vacancy Round II counselling process. Of these, 1 seat each is vacant in Adhiparasakthi Dental College & Hospital, Melmaruvathur, Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences, Kanyakumari, Priyadharshini Dental College & Hospital, Thiruvallur and Sri Venkateswara Dental College & Hospital, Chennai.
