Haryana nearly doubles up MD, MS fee structure for private medical colleges this year
Chandigarh: The fees for MD/MS courses in the private medical colleges of Haryana has been hiked by almost 100 per cent, according to the recent notification issued by the Medical Education & Research Department.
In the notification dated November 16, 2021, the Haryana Government has released the new fee structure of MD/MS courses, MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/M.Sc. Nursing, BPT Courses and ANM/GNM/MPHW(M) Course running under Government Institutions and private institutions affiliated to Pt. B.D. Sharma UHS, Rohtak.
However, the biggest change that has been introduced in the new fee structure is the major hike in the MD/MS fees for the private medical colleges. Now the students intending to pursue post-graduation in clinical specialities in the private medical colleges of Haryana will have to pay a sum of Rs 16.5 lakh per annum, which is almost double than the previous fees of Rs 8.85 lakh per annum.
These modifications of fees have come after the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) of the State had released the proposed fee structure back in August. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that modifying the MD/MS fees to Rs 9.5 lakh for Pre-clinical specialities, Rs 11.5 lakh for Para-clinical specialities, and Rs 20 lakh for Clinical specialities, DMER Haryana had informed in the notification that these changes would be applicable in Private Un-aided Medical Colleges affiliated to Pt. B.D Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak in the State of Haryana.
Fees of MD/MS Courses running under Private Medical Colleges:
Now, in the recent notification, the Government has released the final fee structure, which mentions that students in Pre-clinical specialities need to pay Rs 3.52 lakh per annum. Apart from them, the students of Para-Clinical specialities will now have to pay Rs 5.52 lakh and those pursuing their education in Clinical specialities (Anaesthesiology, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiotherapy, Respiratory Medicine, Psychiatry, General Surgery, General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatrics, Dermatology, (DVL) Radiodiagnosis) will be liable to pay Rs 14.02 lakh on a yearly basis.
The notification further mentions that the fees would be increased by 10% per year. Apart from the fees mentioned before, there will be other charges as well that the students will have to bear. The additional charges include Rs 50,000 for college security, Rs 25,000 for Thesis charges, Rs 10,000 for Library charges, Rs 30,000 for Research and Consumable charges etc. Apart from these, there are other charges including hostel charges, power backup charges, medical charges, dental and medical education charges as well.
The students would need to pay an amount of Rs 75,000 for occupying a non-AC room at the hostel, whereas the charges for AC room has been fixed at an amount, not more than Rs 1 lakh per annum.

Fees of MD/MS courses in Govt. Medical Colleges:
Even though the Post-graduation fees in the private medical colleges of the State has been hiked tremendously, as per the notification issued by Siddhi Nath Roy, the Additional Chief Secretary of Medical Education and Research Department of the State, the MD/MS fees in the Government medical colleges of the state are really nominal in comparison.
Those pursuing MD/MS courses in the Government medical colleges of the State will now be liable to pay Rs 1.25 lakh in their first year, Rs 1.50 lakh in second year and Rs 1.75 lakh in during their third year. This includes not only the tuition fees but also all the other kinds of charges as well.
