ICMR invites proposals from Multidisciplinary Research Units in GMCs, Check out details
New Delhi: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has invited proposals from Multidisciplinary Research Units (MRUs) in government medical colleges and Model Rural Health Research Units (MRHRUs) in States on any issue of national, regional, or local health importance.
The proposals are to be sent to mru-mrhru@icmr.gov.in. The last submission date is 6 weeks from the date of publishing this call for proposal.
Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has established 92 MRUs and 28 MRHRUs. The main objective of these MRUs and MRHRUs are -
1. Providing research infrastructure to state medical colleges.
2. Increase the reach of research studies, including rural populations.
These units are ready to undertake research that can be relevant and beneficial for the local populace with policy and practice implications distinct to the region or population.
Any faculty member/scientist from the MRU/MRHRU network can apply with endorsement from the head of the institute and nodal officer of the respective MRU/MRHRUs. ICMR has notified that preferably multi-centric studies and good quality single-center studies will be accepted.
Studies on non-communicable diseases, established and emerging pathogens, environmental and occupational health, maternal and child health, and any other important domains for the geographical area can be covered. ICMR will accept all study designs, including situation analysis, environmental surveillance, qualitative studies, implementation research, etc.
The proposals will be scored objectively by the project review committee based on novelty, methodology, relevance, translation value, feasibility, appropriateness of budget, etc. Emphasis will be given to the proposal's suitability as per local or regional health issues and policy and practice implications.

2. Literature review
3. Rationale and relevance to national and regional health priorities
4. Detailed methodology
5. Partnering units
6. Budget with justifications
