IIIT Hyderabad introduces online course on AI for medical professionals
Hyderabad: In collaboration with the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) and IHub-Data, the International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIITH) has launched a 12-week online course on ''AI for Medical Professionals.''
Aiming to equip medical professionals with skills to understand and apply AI in clinical settings, enhancing patient care and efficiency, this curriculum covers AI basics, machine learning, deep learning, and clinical applications, with a focus on screening, diagnosis, prognosis, and patient management. The course includes video lectures, tutorials, case studies, and assessments, leading to certification, as per UNI report.
Around 200 senior medical professionals from 41 specialties across 24 states, are mentored by eminent faculty from IIITH and NAMS.

The course was launched virtually by Prof P J Narayanan, Director of IIITH, Dr Shiv Kumar Sarin, President of NAMS, and Prof Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Prof Narayanan emphasized the importance of AI in modern healthcare, while Dr Sarin highlighted the course’s potential to transform medical education. Prof Karandikar noted that AI could extend healthcare services, especially to rural areas, quotes UNI

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIITH) is an autonomous university, founded as a not-for-profit public private partnership (N-PPP) in 1998, and is the first IIIT in India under this model.
