MBBS, BDS Admissions 2021 in Tamil Nadu: Check out fee structure at Private Medical Colleges
Chennai: Inviting applications for admission to MBBS/BDS degree courses, the Tamil Nadu Government has recently released the fee structure for management quota seats including NRI seats in self-financing medical/dental colleges in the State affiliated to Dr M.G.R. Medical University.
The notification has further mentioned that the online submission of application has commenced and will be continued till 07.01.2022 upto 5:00 P.M.
Apart from providing information related to age limit, eligibility criteria (for minority and NRI seats), non-eligibility criteria, procedure of filling up the application form, etc. the prospectus has also dealt in detail with the Fee Structure for pursuing those courses.
The prospectus mentions-
(i) The fee structure for Self-financing Medical and Dental Colleges will be adopted as fixed by the Fee Committee constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
(ii) The fee structure for Christian Medical College, Vellore will be adopted as fixed by the Institution.
Any change in the Fee Structure will be intimated in the official websites.
The committee, in respect of Self-Financing Professional Colleges, has fixed all the fees including Tuition fee, Admission fee, Special fee, Laboratory, Computer, Internet fee, Library fee, Sport fee, Maintenance and Amenities fee, extracurricular activities fee, and other recurring expenditure.
MBBS Fees:
In most of the Tamil Nadu-based Self Financing Medical colleges, fees for both Non-minority and minority students have been fixed at Rs 12.50 lakh per annum in the academic year 2020-2021.
This fee was applicable in all the private medical colleges including, Tagore Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences & Research, Coimbatore, PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Karpaga Vinayaga Medical College, Melmaruvathur Adhiparasakthi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Sri Mookambikai Institute of Medical Sciences, Velammal Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College, Annapoorna Medical College and Hospital, Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, KMCH Institute of Health Sciences & Research, Madha Medical College and Research Institute, Panimalar Medical College Hospital and Research Institute, Indira Medical College & Hospital, Sri Muthukumaran Medical College and Hospital, Arunai Medical College and Hospital, Swamy Vivekanandha Medical College Hospital & Research Institute, and St.Peter's Medical College Hospital & Research Institute.
The exception is only the Christian Medical College, Vellore, where the fees for the Minority students have been fixed at Rs 48,330 per annum.
On the other hand, the NRI quota and NRI lapsed students willing to pursue MBBS in the Self Financing medical colleges need to pay Rs 23.50 lakh and Rs 20.50 lakh per annum respectively.

However, the Prospectus has clarified that the MBBS fee is "Subject to change in the fee structure for 2021-2022 as fixed by the Committee on Fixation of Fee in respect of Self-Financing Professional Colleges."
BDS Fees:
In respect of BDS courses in the private dental colleges in Tamil Nadu, for both Minority and Non-Minority students, the fee has been fixed at Rs 6 lakh per annum. On the other hand, for the NRI BDS seats, the fee is Rs 9 lakh per annum.
This fee is applicable in all the private dental colleges including Madha Dental College & Hospital, Ragas Dental College & Hospital, Sri Venkateswara Dental College & Hospital, Tagore Dental College & Hospital, Adhiparasakthi Dental College & Hospital, Asan Memorial Dental College & Hospital, Chettinad Dental College &Research Institute, Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Dental Sciences, Sree Mookambika Institute of Dental Sciences, Best Dental Science College, CSI College of Dental Sciences and Research, JKK Natarajah Dental College and Hospital, Vivekanandha Dental College for Women, KSR Institute of Dental Science and Research, Rajas Dental College and Hospital, Priyadharshini Dental College and Hospital, Sri Ramakrishna College of Dental Sciences, and RVS Dental College & Hospital.

The Prospectus further mentions-
(b) Any existing / new college getting National Medical Commission recognition will be included at the time of counselling.
(c) Detailed information regarding Scholarship, Fee Concession, Hostel Facilities, Transport, Mess charges etc., can be obtained from the Head of the Institution in which the candidate joins.
(d) In addition to the above fees, the Institution is permitted to collect an amount of Rs.25,000/- per student as development fee.
i. Candidates who have selected the Management Quota seats in Self – Financing Institutions will have to remit a non-refundable amount of 1,00,000/- for Management Quota and Rs.5,00,000/- for NRI Quota by means of Demand draft drawn in favour - The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10 payable at Chennai at the time of receiving the provisional allotment order. This will be adjusted towards the Tuition Fee that has to be paid to the colleges and the balance amount towards Tuition Fee has to be paid in the respective colleges at the time of joining the course. The non-refundable amount of 1,00,000/- and Rs.5,00,000/- will not be refunded to the candidates who have got an allotment order but do not join or discontinue the course for the academic year 2021-2022.
ii. After receipt of the joining report from the Deans of the respective colleges, the Tuition Fee amount will be transferred to the concerned colleges. This fee is non - refundable. If the candidate does not join the Institution, he / she has to forfeit the amount paid during counselling and the seat already allotted will automatically stand cancelled. The candidates who discontinue the course will also forfeit the Tuition Fee amount.
iii. The candidates who discontinue the course between --------- and ---------- of allotment of seats (which will be intimated later) should pay the Discontinuation Fee by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10" payable at Chennai.
iv. The admission to MBBS / BDS Degree Courses for 2021-2022 will close on the cut-off date of admission (i.e. on xx.xx.xxxx) as per the guidelines issued by the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India.
Discontinuation Fee:
(a) The candidates who discontinue the course between ------- and ------- / ------ and ------ (which will be intimated later) should pay the Discontinuation Fee of Rs.1,00,000/- / Rs.10,00,000/- whichever is applicable as per the dates, by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai-10" payable at Chennai.
(b) If a candidate selects a seat in final phase of counselling and does not join the course within the stipulated time, then the candidate has to pay the penalty as discontinuation fee by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of "The Secretary, Selection Committee, Kilpauk, Chennai -10" payable at Chennai and has to forfeit the Tuition fee also.
The Selected candidates should produce all the original documents at the time of admission to the Deans / Principals of the concerned Medical / Dental Colleges. Selection will be cancelled if the candidates do not produce the original documents at the time of admission.
