MCC allows Change of Category option as one-time measure for NEET 2021 Counselling Candidates
New Delhi : Through a recent notice, Medical Counselling Committee, MCC of DGHS, has granted the 'Change of Category' option as a one time measure for NEET Counselling candidates.
All the concerned MBBS and BDS students are hereby informed that they can now change their category by choosing the said option available on the front page of registration while applying with the MCC for NEET Counselling session.
This comes as the MCC had been receiving requests from NEET 2021 aspirants who have inadvertently filed SC/ST/EWS/PwD/OBC Category in the registration form of NBE. It was at a later stage the candidates realised that they are unable to claim reserved category seat due to any reason, said the notice published on the MCC website.
Hence, keeping in view the said circumstances and as a onetime measure, MCC of DGHS, MoHFW is allowing 'Change of Category' option on front page of Registration which may be availed by only those candidates who wish to change their category from SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD to UR category for Round 1 of NEET UG Counselling, 2021 and subsequent rounds, the MCC notification read.
Rest of the candidates who do not wish to carry out the said changes may not avail the said facility.
Also, once a Candidate change their category from SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD to UR category they will be deemed to be UR for further rounds of counselling and they will be deemed to be UR for further rounds of counselling and they will not be able to change their category back to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD, the MCC stated adding that the Candidates can avail the facility of Change of Category' only once.
Moreover, as per the Counselling policy of MCC of DGHS, MoHFW, benefit of OBC reservation is given to candidates of OBC-NCL category who belong to Central List of OBC.
