296 PG Medical Seats Remain Vacant In Maharashtra this year
Maharashtra: 296 PG Medical seats remain vacant in the state of Maharashtra after conducting all the rounds of the counselling process.
This year 1928 seats were available in government and private medical colleges across the state, out of which 1632 seats were filled up.
According to Hindustan Times, now candidates are demanding changes in the admission policy so that seat in important courses doesn't go vacant.
As per records till the last academic year, admissions to seats under the AIQ and state medical colleges were conducted simultaneously because vacant seats in AIQ after round 2 were surrendered to respective states for state quota rounds. But from this academic year, MCC conducted counselling on all 4 rounds of AIQ.
The last date to close the admission process is yet to be confirmed by Maha CET Cell. The committee is now planning to conduct 1 more round of counselling process. At the same time, MCC had announced the last date of admission as 7th May 2022 for the PG courses.
Recently Mop-Up round 3 for government/government-aided/corporation colleges and institutional level round 2 for private unaided/minority medical colleges was carried out. The date of joining for both rounds was 7th May 2022.
The institutional round was conducted only for private unaided/minority medical colleges and vacant seats after the revised Mop-Up 1 round. All the admission at the institution level was done as per the rules of the NEET PG 2021 information brochure.
The government of Maharashtra has established a State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET CELL) under Admission Regulating Authority (ARA) as per the provision in Section 10 of Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015. Both undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses are offered.
