New Delhi: Candidates appearing for the INI-CET January 2027 session will have to answer 200 questions in three hours, with the examination divided into four separately timed sections, according to the prospectus released by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

As per the Mode and Scheme of Examination detailed in the prospectus, the INI-CET January 2027 examination will be held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.

Candidates will get 180 minutes, or three hours, to answer a total of 200 objective-type questions. The question paper may contain different formats, including Single Correct Choice and Multiple Correct Choice questions.

Each correct answer will carry one mark, while an incorrect response will attract a penalty of one-third of a mark. Questions left unanswered or marked for review will carry zero marks.

The percentile scores in INI-CET will be used to determine eligibility for admission for postgraduate seats in all participating INIs. The minimum percentile cut-off required for applicants will be as follows-

i For seats under Unreserved (UR) [including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)], EWS, Sponsored & Foreign Nationals, the minimum percentile will be the 50th percentile.

ii For OBC, SC, ST, PwBD, and Bhutanese Nationals (PGI-Chandigarh only), seats will be 45thpercentile.

IMPORTANT

1 The question paper will be divided into 04 parts on a random basis, where each part will be divided into 50 questions with a 45-minute duration; effectively, the paper will consist of 200 questions of 180-minute duration as published in the prospectus.

2 There will be a sequence in which each part will be enabled to view/answer questions. Access to the visible active part to view/answer will be disabled once the allotted time of 45 minutes expires, and the next part will be automatically activated/made visible and so on.

3 Each part will be submitted automatically after the respective 45 minutes. After the lapse of 45 X 4 180 minutes), the examination will be submitted automatically. Each part will appear one by one for 45 minutes duration at one time only. Candidates will be allowed only to attempt questions in the currently active part, which will remain enabled for its 45-minute duration.

5 Candidates will not be allowed to view or answer any questions in other parts than the currently active /visible part. Hence, candidates must attempt all possible questions of the respective part during the given time period, including review of any skipped questions or questions marked for review, etc.

RESOLUTION OF TIE CASES

In cases where more than one candidate secures equal marks, a tie will be resolved by applying the following criteria sequentially: i) Less negative marks and ii) More percentage in the qualifying examination degree; iii) Older by age; iv) Name in Alphabetical order.
