Doctors urge AIIMS to reconsider INI CET exam centre allotments amid distance concerns

New Delhi: Highlighting the concerns of several aspirants appearing in the upcoming INI CET January 2026 session, who have allegedly been allotted examination centres located very far from their present residences or states, the doctors have urged the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, authorities to re-allocate such students to nearby centres.

The doctors under the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) raised the issue after many candidates reported that they had been allotted examination centres located far from their current residences or states, and in some cases, several hundred kilometres away.

Doctors willing to pursue postgraduate medical education at India's premier institutes- such as AIIMS, JIPMER, PGIMER, and NIMHANS have to appear in INI-CET exam. The INI-CET January 2026 session is scheduled to be conducted on 9th November 2025. Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that AIIMS recently released the admit cards for the exam on the official AIIMS website.

Writing to the Assistant Controller of Examination, AIIMS New Delhi, which is in charge of conducting the INI-CET examination, FAIMA pointed out the concerns faced by the aspirants regarding the INI-CET exam centres.

"Considering the limited time left for the examination and the difficulties in arranging travel at such short notice, especially to distant states with limited transport connectivity, it would be practically impossible for many aspirants to reach their allotted centres in time," the letter by FAIMA mentioned.

Urging the authorities to re-allocate the exam centres, the association added, "ln view of this genuine hardship faced by the examinees, FAIMA earnestly requests the Examination Division of AIIMS to kindly consider re-allocation of nearby examination centres to the affected candidates and to reissue the admit cards at the earliest. This will ensure that deserving aspirants are not disadvantaged due to logistical issues beyond their control."

Speaking to Medical Dialogues in this regard, the National President of FAIMA, Dr. Akshay Dongardive, expressed serious concern over reports from INI-CET aspirants who have been allotted examination centres located hundreds of kilometres away from their home states or current cities.

"Such distant allotments have caused severe stress and logistical challenges for many candidates, making it difficult for them to appear for the examination smoothly. FAIMA strongly urges AIIMS, New Delhi, to urgently review and re-allocate nearby and accessible centres to the affected aspirants and to issue revised admit cards at the earliest," he said.

"This step is essential to ensure fairness, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all deserving candidates across the country," Dr. Dongardive added.
