Free, subsidised travel announced for NEET 2026 re-exam candidates in Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Uttarakhand

New Delhi: To facilitate easy access to the examination centers for students appearing for NEET UG re-examination for the academic year 2026, certain states in India have announced free or subsidised transport services amid heatwave and logistics challenges.
Students reappearing in the NEET-UG exam can avail of free travel on government buses by showing their valid admit cards; no separate registration or ticket is required for this.
ODISHA
According to the HT media news report, the Odisha Commerce and Transport Department has directed the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) to allow NEET candidates to travel for free on government buses upon showing a valid admit card.
This facility will be applicable at all 134 examination centers in the state, and approximately 56,983 candidates are expected to benefit from it.
PUNJAB
In Punjab, the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has approved a uniform fare concession on Punjab Roadways, Punbus, and PRTC buses for candidates traveling to examination centers. This benefit is also extended to one attendant accompanying each student.
UTTARAKHAND
The Pushkar Singh Dhami government announced on Wednesday free travel in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses for permanent residents appearing for examinations. Candidates can travel for free in ordinary-class buses for their return journey, starting two days before the exam, on the day of the exam, and up to two days after it.
DELHI
This decision follows a similar announcement by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. She had stated that students would be able to travel for free on DTC buses by showing a valid admit card, ensuring that "no student faces any inconvenience on the crucial day."
A re-examination for NEET-UG was scheduled following the original exam held on May 3. The original exam had been cancelled due to allegations of paper leaks and irregularities, matters that are currently being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). As of now, the exam is set to be conducted across India on June 21.
