New Delhi: The INI CET aspirants can now relax as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), has released the revised schedule for the exam. The entrance examination that was scheduled to be held on June 16 will now be conducted on July 22.

The notification dated 18.06.2021 released on AIIMS website has also given the choice to the candidates for re-filling of online city choice for the re-allotment of examination center. The window for this purpose will remain open from June 20 to June 24.

After confusion involving the dates of the examination and the demands of the candidates for more time for preparation, this new schedule will certainly allow the candidates to relax.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the MBBS doctors had approached the Supreme Court and sought the deferment of the exam citing that the decision of conducting INI CET with notice only 19 days before the exam contradicts the Prime Minister's earlier announcement that the students will be given at least one month's time in order to prepare for the said examination.

Following this, noting that the MBBS doctors who seek higher education presently, are serving COVID duties and the fixation of the PG entrance exam date amid this situation is arbitrary, the Supreme Court directed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to defer the INI CET 2021 exam, which was scheduled to be held on June 16, by at least a month.

"Considering that many of the candidates intending to appear in the exam are in covid duty and remote areas, we are of the opinion that June 16 date is arbitrary. We direct the exam to be postponed by one month. Needless to say, exam can be held anytime after the expiry of one month," the Bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and MR Shah ordered.

In compliance with the Supreme Court's order, AIIMS had informed about the postponement of INI-CET for admission to PG medical courses of INIs for the July 2021 session.

"As per direction of Hon'ble Supreme court of India to postpone the INI-CET for admission to PG courses of all INIs (AIIMS New Delhi, AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Bhubaneshwar, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Nagpur, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Rishikesh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru and PGIMER Chandigarh) for July 2021 session following examination scheduled on Wednesday, the 16th June 2021 have been postponed till further notice," the earlier notice read.

On Friday, through the notice dated 18.06.2021, AIIMS released the revised schedule of the examination.

"As per the direction of Hon'ble Supreme court of India to postpone the INI-CET for admission to PG courses of all INIs for July 2021 session scheduled on Wednesday, the 16th June 2021 and further directed that the AIIMS shall fix a convenient date for the INI CET at least one month after 16th June 2021, the competent authority of AIIMS has decided to reschedule the conduct of INI-CET for admission to PG courses for July 2021 session." read the official notification released by AIIMS.

Amidst all the confusion regarding the examination, this revised schedule has certainly provided the doctors with some clarity. Previously, the doctors were anxious as they were not getting enough time for preparation. However, now the doctors will have at least one month to prepare for the examination.

While commenting on the matter, Gaurav Tyagi, Founder- Career Xpert told The Tribune India, "This is a good decision. Now, the aspirants will have a month's time to prepare properly for this test, which gives them ample time to revise the whole syllabus."
