JCECEB launches probe into 10 MBBS admissions over fake certificates
Jharkhand: The Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (JCECEB) has started an investigation into admission certificates after irregularities were found in the documents of 10 MBBS students of four state-run medical colleges.
Of these 10 suspected MBBS students, five are from Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH), Hazaribagh, three from Phool Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH), Dumka, and one each from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi and Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH), Dhanbad.
In this regard, the JCECEB, in a letter sent to colleges on Tuesday evening, directed them to submit attested copies of the caste and residential certificates of the listed students. The examination board also sought confirmation from the respective college administrations as to whether these students have been formally enrolled and the status of the ongoing verification of their eligibility.
However, SNMMCH Dhanbad has already cancelled the admission of its suspected student and recommended legal action against the candidate.
The admission of an MBBS student at a medical college in Jharkhand's Dumka district was cancelled for allegedly submitting a fake scheduled tribe certificate, an official informed PTI on Wednesday.
The girl was enrolled as a student at the Shaheed Nirma Mahto Medical and Hospital (SNMMCH) after counselling, he said.
"The surname of the girl, which is ***, created a suspicion. However, she was given a conditional admission and an enquiry was set up," he said.
"An executive magistrate was sent to Godda, her native place, on November 10 to verify the details provided by her. It was found that she faked the certificate to get admission on a quota meant for tribals," he said.
Her admission has been cancelled, and legal action recommended, he added.
Speaking to TheJharkhandStory, the admission in-charge of a medical college said “That the JCECEB had asked for the verification report within two hours on Monday evening, and we submitted it within the given deadline”.
