New Delhi: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has informed candidates that vacant in-service super-speciality seats from Tamil Nadu have been added to Round 2 of the NEET SS Counselling 2025 following their reversion to the All India counselling pool.

Candidates can now exercise choices for these newly added seats, while those seeking to resign their Round 1 allotment may do so without forfeiture of the security deposit until 6:00 PM today, i.e. August 4, 2026.

According to the notice issued by the MCC, the Tamil Nadu State Selection Committee reverted the vacant super-speciality seats to the MCC through a letter dated July 29, 2026.

The action was taken in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order dated July 28, 2026, in Tamil Nadu Medical Officers Association and Another vs Union of India and Others, W.P. (C) No. 771/2026, the notice stated.

The registration and choice filling for Round 2 of SS Counselling 2025 has already been in progress since March 29, 2026.

Candidates participating in the ongoing round may now include the newly added Tamil Nadu in-service seats in their choice preferences. Aspirants have been advised to review the updated seat matrix and counselling schedule before locking their choices.

Candidates participating in the ongoing round can now exercise choices for these newly included DM and MCh seats as per the notified choice-filling schedule.

NEET SS candidates have been allowed to resign from their Round 1 seats until 6:00 PM on August 4, 2026, without losing their security deposit.

However, candidates are instructed to make an informed decision, as those who resign will not be permitted to participate in Round 2 of SS Counselling 2025 or any further round, if conducted.

Seats becoming vacant due to resignations will be reflected as clear vacancies in the Round 2 seat matrix after 6:00 PM on August 4, 2026.

This means candidates participating in Round 2 may see additional seats becoming available once the resignation period closes and the seat matrix is updated.
