The National Medical Commission had sought a modification of the time schedule for completion of admissions for under graduate medical courses for 2022-2023. The time schedule was laid down in the judgment of this Court in Ashish Ranjan and Others vs Union of India and Others [2016) 11 SCC 225. The extension had been sought by the National Medical Commission on the ground that as a result of the lock down and later restrictions during Covid¬19, counselling for admissions in 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 could not be conducted in accordance with the time schedule and the academic sessions commenced with delay. As a consequence, the declaration of results was delayed.
