PGIMER invites applications For Master In Public Health course, 14 seats available, check out admission details

Chandigarh: Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has invited applications for a Master in Public Health (MPH).

Eligibility –

1. The candidate must possess MBBS/BDS/B.V.Sc/BE/MA/M.Sc on or before 30th June 2023 with at least 50% marks in aggregate. However, those belongings to SC/ST/OBC with a least 45% marks from a University/ Institute recognized by the Medical /Dental/Veterinary Council of India/ the Institution of Engineers (India) and UGC/AICTE

2. Must have completed or due to complete respective rotatory internship training on or before 30th June 2023, if applicable (as per Annexure-I). The candidates appearing in the exam may apply. They will be allowed to appear in the exam provisionally subject to the condition they will qualify for the exam by 30.06.2023. Such candidates must submit a copy of the passing certificate to the Academic Section, PGI, through emailmdhapgijan2020@gmail.com or by hand on or before 05.06.2023, failing which their candidature will not be considered.

3. Must be registered with the Central /State Medical/Dental/Veterinary Registration Council (if applicable).

Sponsored/deputed candidates –

A candidate applying for admission to Master in Public Health as a sponsored/deputed candidate is required to take the printout of the online application form and furnish the following certificates (as per format given in Annexure II &III) with their application through their employer/Sponsoring Authority for admission to the course.

1. The candidate concerned shall be an employee of the deputing/ sponsoring authority and should have worked for three years (on or before 30th June for the July session).

2. after getting training at PGIMER, Chandigarh, the candidate will be suitably employed by the deputing/sponsoring authority to work for at least five years in the specialty in which training is received by the candidate at the PGIMER.

3. That no financial implications, in the form of payments/ stipend etc., will devolve upon PGIMER, Chandigarh, during the entire period of their course, and such payment shall be the responsibility of the sponsoring authority.

Deputation / Sponsorship of any candidate by private hospitals, institutes or nursing homes is not accepted. The sponsoring authority should not nominate more than one candidate for a specialty. Sponsorship/deputation of candidates will be accepted only from the following –

1. Central or State Government Departments/Institutions

2. Autonomous Bodies of the Central or State Government

3. Public sector colleges affiliated with universities and recognized by the MCI. In case of a candidate deputed/ sponsored by the Government Medical College affiliated to Universities and recognized by the Medical Council of India, a deputation/sponsorship certificate signed by the Principal of the Medical College concerned only shall be accepted.

Deputed/Sponsored candidates are also required to appear in the Entrance Exam. If selected for admission to any course of the Institute, they must arrange their stay during the study period.

1. Seats will be allotted strictly as per merit.

2. Seats will be available for sponsored candidates within sponsored category only.

Several seats – 14 seats have been allotted for MPH.

Reservation of seats will be done in the following categories –

1. Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) & Other Backward Classes (OBC)

2. Persons With Benchmark Disability (PwBD)

The details related to each category are enclosed in the notice below.

Method of selection –

Selection will be made through a Computer Based Test (CBT).

Admission -

1. The final allocation of seats will be done after a personal interview by the Selection Committee appointed by the Institute.

2. The number of candidates to be called for an interview will be three times the number of seats to be filled in each category, provided the candidates fulfill the cut-off marks mentioned above.

3. The selection will be finalized only after the Selection Committee interviews the candidates. An interview with the Selection Committee is mandatory but does not carry any marks.

4. A candidate absent during the interview will not be considered for admission. If any selected candidate fails to join by 1st July, the next candidate will be offered the seat as per the waiting list.

5. The selection will be strictly in order of merit in the respective merits lists prepared after the theory examinations.

6. No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for attending counseling.

7. Admission to the Master in Public Health course will close on 31st July 2023.

8. Selected candidates must join their course on the prescribed date as indicated in their admission letter. The selection of candidates who fail to join by the specified date shall automatically stand canceled.

9. Under exceptional circumstances, a candidate may be allowed to join late up to 31st July on the condition that they will have to make up the deficiency by working for the same number of days by which they join late, after the date on which their period of training would have otherwise been completed but for their late joining. The admission will close on 31st July each year.

Course outline –

1. Core Courses: Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental & Occupational Health, Health Management, Population Sciences/ Demography, Research Methods, Health Economics, Social & Behavioural Sciences.

2. Elective Course(Anyone): Health Policy, International Health, MCH, Community Nutrition, Reproductive Health, Public Health Laws & Ethics, Gender & Health, Health Technology, Disaster Preparedness, Pharmaco-economics, Mental Health, Geriatric Health, Communicable Disease Control, Non-Communicable Disease, Community Based Rehabilitation, Accelerated Changes in Life Style, Other Medical Systems.

3. Special Courses (Any one) epidemiology, Health Management, Health Promotion.

4. Dissertation

5. Practice (Place mention Health Organization

Fees and dues –

1. Registration Fee: Rs. 500/-

2. Tuition Fee: Rs. 350/- per annum

3. Laboratory Fee: Rs. 900/- per annum

4. Amalgamated Fund: Rs. 720/- per annum

5. Security: Rs. 1000/- (refundable only after completion of course)

6. Examination fee: Rs. 1000/-

The first installment fee of one year,, i.e., registration fee, tuition fee, laboratory fee, amalgamated fund and security deposit, will have to be deposited on allotment of seat/admission to the course immediately. Second-year fees, i.e., tuition fee, laboratory fee and amalgamated fund, will have to be deposited by the 15th day of January for the January session and by 15th July for the July session till completion.

Fees and other charges, once paid, shall not be refunded in any case, including that of a candidate leaving the Institute before the completion of their term or not joining the Institute for any reason.

The dues must be paid by the prescribed date. A fine @ Rs.5/- per day will be charged for up to 15 days for late payment. After 15 days, the name of the non-paying candidate shall be struck off from the rolls of the Institute. For re-admission, if otherwise eligible, a sum of Rs.500/- will be charged as a re-registration fee in addition to the fine. Such a candidate must repeat their training period to remain off the rolls.

Security will be released only after receiving the “No Dues Certificate” upon completion of the course duration. No security will be released to those candidates who do not join or discontinue the course midway.

Duration of course - The Master in Public Health course has two academic years.
