Tamil Nadu Releases Rank List For MBBS, BDS 2024 Admissions, Cut-off Likely To Increase
Tamil Nadu- Recently, the Tamil Nadu Government has released the rank list for the candidates who are willing to take admission in MBBS and BDS courses in the colleges of Tamil Nadu.
Along with this, the cut-off has also been increased slightly as the candidates have performed better than the NEET 2023 exam where 89426 candidates qualified NEET 2024.
This rank list was recently released by the Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Monday.
With this, the minister informed TOI that “There are no new seats in govt colleges, but seats in the govt quota will go up by 150 with two new medical colleges”.
“This includes 50 MBBS seats in Annaii Medical College and Hospital in Sriperumbudur and 100 seats in Kanyakumari Medical Mission Research Centre. Admission to all seats will be based on merit in NEET-2024 and the rule of reservation. It will be done fairly and transparently”, Ma Subramanian further added.
However, the state has a total of 36 government colleges with a total of 5,050 MBBS seats. Apart from this, ESIC College in KK Nagar has 150 seats, therefore, the state will provide 888 seats for the All India quota and will also set aside 496 MBBS seats and 126 BDS seats for govt school students.
On this, the Health Minister said “Adding govt quota seats from self-financing colleges, the state will offer 6,630 seats under govt quota for MBBS and 1,683 for BDS”.
As per the TOI media news report, this year the selection committee received 2,721 more applications i.e. 43,063 applications for MBBS/BDS admissions than in 2023, including 3,733 for admission under 7.5% government quota seats, 343 under the sports category, 455 children of defence personnel and 133 differently-abled people.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has begun the Round 1 counselling for admission into MBBS and BDS degree courses in Tamil Nadu government medical and dental colleges for the academic year 2024-2025 session from August 21. Additionally, counselling for special categories i.e. eminent sportspersons, children of ex-servicemen and differently-abled persons has also started from today i.e. 22nd August.
