Telangana PG aspirants allege financial irregularities at KNRUHS, demand refund of registration charges, security deposits
Telangana: Alleging financial irregularities, medicos seeking PG admissions at Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) demanded that the institute refund the registration fees and security deposits for the convenor and management quota.
As per the Hans India report, the Students have alleged that the university has charged them security deposits ranging from 10,000 to 20,000 rupees. Colleges are charging 10,000 rupees, including bank fees, for those under the convenor quota (unreserved category). Similarly, 15,000 rupees, including bank fees, are being charged for those under the management quota.
Additionally, the college allegedly charged an additional ₹8,000, including bank fees, which is five per cent. Furthermore, the All India Quota (AIQ) requires a registration fee of ₹1,000 and a security deposit of ₹20,000. If a seat is not allocated or the student does not participate, the security deposit is refunded.
According to the HansIndia news report, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to the registrar requesting a revision of the PG counselling registration fee structure. The IMA stated that the current fee charged by KNRUHS appears to be disproportionately high compared to the All India Quota counselling process.
IMA has urged the university to refund the security deposit in cases where seats are not allotted to the candidates, candidates do not want to participate in the counselling and the name is withdrawn within the stipulated time limit.
The non-refundable policy is particularly worrying, as it penalises candidates who are unable to secure a seat despite registering and those who wish to withdraw from the counselling process for genuine reasons and are unable to participate due to unforeseen circumstances.
