UP DGME debars 144 candidates from NEET PG counselling 2026

Uttar Pradesh: The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (DGME), Uttar Pradesh, has barred a total of 144 candidates from participating in the UP NEET PG 2026-27 counselling for MD, MS and other postgraduate medical courses after they either resigned from their allotted seats or failed to report for admission during previous counselling sessions.
In an official notification issued by the UPDGME in this regard, the authority released separate lists of candidates affected by the debarment provisions under the state government's counselling policies for the academic sessions 2024-25 and 2025-26.
The decision follows government orders prescribing restrictions on candidates who leave their allotted seats before completing their courses or fail to join after receiving an allotment in the final counselling round.
According to the notice, the Uttar Pradesh government had issued a policy-related order dated July 9, 2024, specifying the consequences for candidates who resign from their admitted postgraduate medical seats before completing the course.
Under the relevant provision, candidates who vacate their seats before completing the course after the final counselling round are barred from participating in the admission process for the following academic session.
DGME has identified two candidates admitted during UP NEET MD/MS 2024 counselling who resigned from their seats before completing their courses.
The candidates were associated with King George's Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, and Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Prayagraj.
The authority has directed that these candidates will not be permitted to participate in the UP NEET PG 2026-27 counselling process.
The notice provides separate lists of candidates based on their previous counselling status.
