Assam to set up New Medical College in Karimganj With 100 MBBS Seats
Assam- In a significant development, the Assam government has announced the setting up of a new medical college and hospital project in Ramakrishnanagar Karimganj, Assam soon.
As per the announcement, this new medical college and hospital will be built at a cost of ₹674.81 crore which will include a hospital building, a medical college building, a hostel building, residential buildings for employees and also a service building. Additionally, the hospital building can accommodate approximately 430 beds, 9 major and 2 minor operation theatres with 47 ICU beds.
Apart from this, the medical college will intake around 100 students annually based on the National Medical Commission (NMC) norms.
The decision to build the Medical College and Hospital was approved by the Assam Cabinet in the Cabinet meeting held recently, reports Guwahati plus.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Assam is going to get its second ayurvedic college after a gap of 76 years.
The new ayurvedic college will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 70 crore.
It will have an intake capacity of 100 students for the undergraduate course (BAMS). Provisions have been made to start the postgraduate courses later on, the release said.
The campus will also have a herbal garden along with a manufacturing unit of ayurvedic medicines.
The 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals in Kokrajhar and Baksa will be developed at an investment of Rs 30 crore.
