Visakhapatnam: The Graduation Ceremony of GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR), Visakhapatnam, was held on 8th July 2022. A total of 116 MBBS 2016-2017 batch pass outs received their degrees.
GITAM President Gold Medal for outstanding academic performance was conferred to Shaik Asha.
KIIT University Pro-Chancellor Subrat Kumar Achary graced the occasion as chief guest for the ceremony. The ceremony was held from 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm in Dr.Yellapragada Subbarao Auditorium, GIMSR, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Visakhapatnam – 530045.
The medicos who attended the ceremony in person were requested to complete their COVID vaccination and were asked to wear a mask throughout the graduation ceremony. The medicos who could not participate in the ceremony in person were allowed to register for absentia. A proper dress code was followed during the ceremony—a formal suit for gents and a saree for ladies. Shoes/formal sandals were accepted for girls, while boys had to wear shoes.
KIIT University Pro-Chancellor Subrat Kumar Acharya, during his interaction at the ceremony, emphasized the role of new medicos in effective patient care. He further said that in recent times the requirement for patient care is changing. Medical knowledge and skills are changing at a fast pace. For the new medicos learning should not stop. It should be an ever-ending process so that patient care should be done in effective ways. He advised the medical graduates to follow ethics to impart high standards in the profession, reports The Hindu.
GITAM President M. Sribharath hopes that the medicos of the institute will improve the patient care facilities in rural India. Rural India still doesn't have trained specialists. Most doctors prefer to stay in cities and treat patients who can pay.
GIMSR Hospital, which was started in 2014, spread its wings into a medical college, with the first batch of its UG students joining in 2015. It is the first deemed medical college in the private sector in Andhra Pradesh.
