JIPMER notifies on Orientation Program for MBBS Interns, details
Puducherry- The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, has announced the Intern Orientation Program (IOP) for MBBS interns for the August 2024 batch. The announcement has been made through a circular issued by the head of the Medical Education Department.
As per the circular, the IOP for the August 2024 batch will be conducted on August 1 and 2, 2024 at NTTC Hall-1, Department of Medical Education. The registration for the program will open at 8:30 am on Thursday, August 1, 2024.
A full-time attendance and punctuality are mandatory for all candidates in the IOP. It will be treated as absent if any intern arrives late or fails to attend on any of the programme days. Moreover, the interns are urged to bring their hospital case sheet with barcode stickers, hepatitis vaccination card, and/or titre values, depending on the status of their vaccination.
Meanwhile, all the Heads of Departments are requested to circulate this among the interns and permit them to attend the programme. lt is also requested not to post them on night duty during the programme days and inform all unit heads to relieve the interns on time, which will enable them to attend all sessions on time.
In this IOP, Dr Subathra A., an Additional Professor of Radio-Diagnosis, Dr R Rajalakshmi, an Associate Professor of Physiology, and Dr R. Mirunalini, an Associate Professor of Pharmacology, serve as the coordinators.
The Intern Orientation Program is organised to familiarise medical interns with their roles within various work settings, such as wards, OPD, emergency rooms, and the community. The program aims to equip interns with effective communication skills, both verbal and written, an understanding of patient's psychosocial needs, proper techniques for sample collection and transport for laboratory tests, awareness of ethical considerations in patient care, fostering a sense of belonging to the institute and emphasising their responsibility and accountability in patient care. Additionally, the program guides interns in interacting with medical representatives.
