Land Acquisition process completed for Ambedkar Medical College, Mohali
Chandigarh: After the signing of the lease deed, the Behlolpur and Jujharnagar Panchayats here today handed over the possession of 10.4 acres of land for the construction of the building of Dr B R Ambedkar Medical College, Mohali, informed OP Soni, Medical Education and Research Minister Punjab.
With the completion of the long pending land acquisition process, the hope for commencement of Dr B R Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences has come alive.

A state-of-the-art multi-storey building is to come up in the area housing an academic block, 4 lecture theatres, laboratories, hostel for boys and girls, the faculty residence block, a library, a community centre, indoor play area, large play ground, an auditorium, a cafeteria and also a museum showcasing human anatomy/health education.
The museum is proposed to be opened for public as well. A multi-level parking and an integrated services building with substation, UG tank, Pump room, HVAC plant would also be the part of the college campus. The central atrium rising to the top for ample light and ventilation, staircase, lifts and other ancillary facilities would be available in the building. The college campus will be connected to the hospital building by means of the approach roads.
The construction would be done in consonance with the requirements mandated by National Medical Commission as well as the National Building code.
Construction of boundary wall will be started shortly.
In the meanwhile, the hospital attached to the Medical College is being augmented with additional infrastructure. A new block/building housing dedicated wards for orthopaedics, paediatrics, ophthalmology, ENT, derma, general surgery, general medicine, blood bank, mortuary, chiller plant, ICU, 7 Operation Theatres , faculty rooms and administrative office with covered pedestrian linkages between various blocks of the hospital is also coming up in Dr. BR Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences.
