NIRF rankings 2022: Here are the country's top 50 medical colleges
According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi ranked at the first position with a score of 91.60.
New Delhi: Announcing the details of this year's list of best medical colleges across the country, the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022. Besides medical, the rankings have been released under various categories including Overall, Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Colleges, Architecture, Law, Dental and Research.
According to the National Institutional Ranking Framework, maintaining its earlier record, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has been ranked at the first position with a score of 91.60. However , there has been a decline in the score this year. In 2021, AIIMS was at the first position with the score of 92.07.
The second spot of the best medical colleges in the rankings list has been bagged by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) with a score of 79.00 while Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore is ranked at 3rd position with the score of 72.84.
National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore has been ranked the 4th position followed by the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) which jumped to the 5th position in 2022 with the score of 68.12 from its 2021 rank of 7th position.
The 6th, 7th, and 8th, position have ranked by Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER), Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI Lucknow) and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham respectively.
There has been a major fall in the ranking of the Aligarh Muslim University. The university ranked at 15th position in 2021 with a score of 58.10 but in 2022 the university ranked at 22nd position with the score of 56.19.
In private medical colleges ranking, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, private deemed university ranked the top position with its overall ranking across medical colleges being 8.
