Uttrakhand's Medical College 26-year-old PG Anatomy medico found dead

Srinagar (Garhwal): In an unfortunate incident, a 26-year-old first-year postgraduate medico from the Department of Anatomy at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Institute of Medical Science and Research (VCSGGMC) Srinagar, Uttarakhand, was found dead hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room.
No suicide note was found in the room. Her phone, which is currently locked, has been seized by the police. Investigators hope to retrieve data and call records to identify the circumstances leading to her death.
Prima facie, the case appears to be a suicide; however, since no suicide note was found and there were no visible signs of stress in her behaviour, the police are investigating the case from all possible angles. They sent her body for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of the death after obtaining permission from her parents.

The deceased, originally from Durga Enclave, Bardwan Road in Lalpur, Ranchi (Jharkhand), had joined the college in March this year to pursue her post-graduation in the Anatomy department.
As per Navin Samachar media report, the incident took place after the medico did not attend a scheduled seminar on Monday. Worried, her teachers and fellow students tried to contact her repeatedly but failed as she didn’t did not respond to their phone calls. Following this, the hostel caretaker checked her room and found the door locked from the inside. The police were called, and upon breaking down the door, they found her hanging inside.
Inspector-in-Charge of the Kotwali police station, Jaipal Singh Negi, told Navin Samachar, "Her room has been sealed. Her mobile phone, which was receiving continuous calls from her family members, has been taken into custody for investigation. The cause of death will only be clear after the post-mortem report, phone data analysis, and questioning of her family and acquaintances."
Her classmates, deeply saddened by her sudden death, said that she had never shown any signs of mental distress, making it hard for them to believe that she could have taken her own life.
Meanwhile, Dr. Anil Dwivedi, Head of the Department of Anatomy, described the medico as a sociable, sensitive, and bright student. He noted that she was always respectful towards both teachers and fellow students, and her class attendance was consistently commendable.
Following the incident, Director of Medical Education, Prof. Ashutosh, expressed deep sorrow and stated that he is personally heading to Srinagar. He mentioned that all medical colleges have been instructed to maintain a stress-free environment. Measures such as yoga, cultural activities, sports, and mental counselling services are being implemented as part of this initiative.
