Meerut: Three MBBS students belonging to Meerut-based Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College (LLRM) were allegedly brutally thrashed by student leaders belonging to the youth wing of a political party after their vehicles crashed onto each other.
The altercation started after when the MBBS students were passing by on their bikes and the door of the student leaders' car opened which allegedly made the medicos fall to the ground. As the medicos confronted them, the student leaders allegedly started abusing them, called his friends and beat them up, a member from Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors' Network, Uttar Pradesh has informed Medical Dialogues.
Further, when the students went to file complaint, they were allegedly discouraged by the Police and as the students were afraid of Counter Blast FIR, they didn't take any action, the doctor stated.
One of the students was bleeding severely and had to get three to four stitches. However, they are all stable now. Dr.Vinay, RDA UP President, Dr.Akash verma, State coordinator of IMA JDN UP, and Dr.Shashwat singh, the State joint secretary of IMA MSN UP met the students to counsel them.

"I got stitches on my head. They also threatened to kill me if I complained. The only mistake my friend made was that he accidently crashed his car into the accused's vehicle. We apologised too. But they started beating us. While my friend ran to call for help, I got caught and was beaten," the victim medico told TOI.
"Who knows they will beat someone else tomorrow. They must get punished. They must know that they cannot thrash people on the road just because they have political backing," he added.
Meanwhile, the students have taken up the issue on Twitter and one user wrote, "Yesterday the so called self proclaimed BJP Chatra Neta Goons thrashed and beat LLRM Meerut Medical College students in front of the college Initially he crashed their bike with his car and then started abusing, called his friends and beat the students brutally by all means."

"The students were so Frightened that they didn't logged FIR as they were afraid of Counter Blast FIR... They have a career ahead unlike those goons And moreover this place is just outside the college campus and they have to go across that regularly so this incident," the Tweet added.
In fact, Meerut Police reacted to the Tweet and mentioned, "Police station in-charge medical has been directed for necessary legal action."
However, speaking to Medical Dialogues, Dr. Akash Verma, State Coordinator of IMA-JDN clarified that no action has been taken yet.

"The situation could have been handled in a better way and it shouldn't have led to any kind of violence. Further, when the students went to lodge the FIR they didn't receive cooperation at all. Although it is being claimed that the case has been resolved the real scenario is something different," Dr. Verma said.
